This is my first blog and I'm going to evaluate a website applying the AIDA marketing model. I chose this website because I am from Costa Rica (CR) so, I am interesting in what Costa Rican companies are doing. Here is the link: http://www.visitcostarica.com/
Please note the red circles that highlight the AIDA model in the screenshots, each letter means: A- Attention. I- Interest. D- Desire. AC- Action.
Attention:
What calls my attention to visitcostarica.com website is the map of the country that you can find in the first page. As you can check in the screenshot below the site has a nice and green map of the territory of CR as a background.
Interest:
I found interesting that you can book a hotel, get your tickets, book a tour or rent a car from this webpage. So, in other words you can plan your trip to CR from this site. Also, I found really interesting that they have a list of several activities that you can do in CR and it gives relevant information such the weather, exchange rate, visa, maps and more.
Desire:
I think the design of this webpage fails a little bit to deliver on this point, which is really important because the desire convince customers that they want the product/service and in this example, they include testimonials from Youtube videos, which is kind of interesting but in my opinion they should include more tools so customers can easily desire visit CR.
Action:
In my opinion there is a lack of action tools in this webpage, but I am considering that this can be because the webpage focuses on giving information to future visitors, but still, they should include more lead tools to purchase the trip and an area where customers can leave comments. The only action tools that I found are the links to Youtube, Twitter, Facebook and the bottom to download the new GoCostaRica app for iPad.
What do you think about it? What should the designer include or exclude to enhance this webpage?
